I bought some dry erase hands from scholastic to use for writing answers on and holding up. I have also used mini chalk boards and mini dry erase white boards for students. I will ask a Q or give a French word and they write the answer and hold it up. Often I do this in small groups and they get points.
I like this idea because it is cheap and easy and you can easily have enough for each student to use.
